Staff

Keith Donoghue is the Town Clerk who heads the staff of the City Council. He is assisted by the Town Clerk's Assistant Mrs Lizzie Webb who answers the wide range of enquiries faced by the office.

Day to day responsibility for the Town Hall is in the hands of Kevin Westwood the Town Hall Manager and the Deputy Town Hall Manager, Nick Marshman. They deal with bookings, set up the hall for the wide range of events that are held there and maintain the building to a high standard.

The wide range of archives and the many civic assets held by the Council are cared for by William Smith, the Council's Archivist and Chamberlain.

Responsibility for the care and administration of the City’s Cemetery lies with Steve Luck who is the Superintendent Registrar.

Finally, the City Council guards its traditions with great care and pride and the following honorary posts are held. The Town Crier has been a familiar figure for centuries and as well as a ceremonial function still makes announcements as has been done down the ages.

Two Serjeants-at-Mace are responsible for carrying the Carolean maces in procession and for ensuring order at meetings of the Council.

Two High Constables are appointed each year who carry staves and are doubtless grateful that they do not have to carry out their promise to keep a record of blood lettings in the City.
