The role of the City Council is defined by the Local Government Acts.
It is responsible for running local services and providing a voice for residents to all other tiers of Government.
Services the Wells City Council are responsible for include the running of the Town Hall, The Market Place, Skate Park and the Almshouses.

Wells is Englands smallest city, but did you know....?
The city arms show an ash tree surrounded by three wells. The Latin motto, 'Hoc fonte derivata copia' means 'the fullness that springs from this well'.
