Changing Places facility opens in Wells

Tuesday 3 July, 2018

Wells City Council provides a Changing Places facility at the rear of Wells Town Hall.

Changing Places is a national campaign which aims to see new public toilet facilities introduced across the country for people with acute physical and learning disabilities.

Changing PlacesThe facility in Wells was officially opened on 29th June 2018 by the Mayor of Wells, Cllr Celia Wride.  It has been installed by and will be managed by Wells City Council; £6,000 was donated by Mendip District Council and £1,000 by Mammoth Screen, makers of the popular Poldark BBC television series.

As one of the main tourist venues in Somerset, Wells attracts a high number of visitors each year; by providing this facility the city council is enabling local people and visitors, to get out and enjoy the activities many of us take for granted.   The room is conveniently located close to the city centre, shops and key attractions.

Saturday                 08.00 - 18.00
