Friday 17 January, 2020

The next dates for Litter Picking in Wells will be Friday 17th, Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th January 2020.

Again it will be the same format - I will be at Wells Town Hall each morning on the above dates from 8.30am (9am on Sunday) until about 10.30am doling out kit, and the rubbish will be collected on the Monday of the following week.

Please note that all equipment supplied must be returned to the Town Hall.

I hope those dates suit most of you, but don't worry there will be ample opportunities in the future. If you have a particular area that you want to deep clean - please let me know and I can gather willing helpers or just turn up myself!

At the moment I have two young ladies from the Blue School who are litter picking for an hour or so every week for the next ten weeks for their Duke of Edinburgh's Award and I am supervising them, so I hope this will catch on with other youngsters!

Wells has over a hundred willing volunteers who go out at least 4 times a year, en masse to clear our roads and verges. They all enjoy it, but do wish that people wouldn't drop 'stuff' in the first place. We want to see Wells clean and tidy and that litter doesn't cause harm to local wildlife. If you feel like joining in just give me an email or phone me, or just turn up at the Town Hall early morning on the weekend of the 17th January where you can collect bags and kit to enable you to join in!
