On Saturday 8th June the Mayor was honoured to be at the D-Day 80th History Exhibition at Wells Town Hall. Entertainment was provided by Berkleys Blue Birds who played 1940s music and tea and cake was provided by the Wells Branch of the Royal British Legion. Mr. Neil Dowdney, Deputy Lieutenant of Somerset spoke movingly about the role of Somerset in the war and the Mayor expressed her gratitude on behalf of the people of the City of Wells for the bravery of those involved in the D-Day landings. Corporal Colwill spoke of the duty of the future generation to carry on the remembrance. The Mayor would like to thank Maria Batt of the Royal British Legion for her hard work in organising the event.
