Wells Weekly Market
Every Wednesday and Saturday between 9am to 3pm Wells Market Place comes alive with a thriving market. These markets feature the best local produce, including fresh foods, seasonal fruits and vegetables, locally brewed beers, a wide range of regional cheeses, crafts, and much more. Many other towns across Somerset host regular weekly or monthly markets. More information about these markets can be found on local towns’ social media and websites.
Wells Sunday Market
Wells City Council has announced an exciting new programme of Sunday event markets for 2026, bringing themed markets, new traders, and a fresh experience to the city centre throughout the year. Running alongside the already established Wednesday and Saturday markets, these events will offer residents and visitors an even greater variety of stalls, activities, attractions and displays while supporting local businesses and independent traders.
The Sunday market dates for the remainder of 2026 are:
- 13 September
- 8 November
- A special two-day Christmas Market on 12–13 December (see below for more detials)
The Christmas event will extend across the town centre and include additional stalls, festive displays, and family-friendly activities, creating one of the largest seasonal events hosted in Wells.
Wells City Council will operate the Sunday markets as a pilot programme during 2026, with the hope that successful events could lead to even more Sunday and special event markets in future years.
The Sunday will be open at 9.30am for browsing and then open for trading between 10am-3pm.
Who will be there?
We have a number of local traders who return weekly on our Wednesday and Saturday markets to distribute their foods and products and so we are compiling a list to allow you to gain a good understanding about what might be at the market. We will try to keep this page up to date with any new traders but if in doubt, head over to our Wells Market Facebook page for up to date information.
