    Mayor's Diary 28/10/21

    Mayors Diary 28/10/21

The Wells Ambassadors were formed six months ago but never had the chance to meet and greet each other.

But their co-ordinator Ross Young put this right by asking the Mayor of Wells to hold a reception in the Town Hall to thank them for the sterling work they are doing in meeting and greeting visitors to the city.

It also gave Ross, whose idea it was to have volunteer “Meeters and Greeters” in the city centre, the opportunity to show off the award Wells received for Coach Friendly Destination UK he collected at the national Coach Tourism Awards in September – the first destination to receive it two years running.

“I am immensely proud of the work that the Ambassadors are doing and the feedback from both visitors and locals has been most encouraging,” said Ross. “We will continue through to Christmas and then take a well-earned break until March 2022.

“Our thanks go to the Mayor, Councillor Philip Welch, for his hospitality and whole-hearted support for the work we do.”
