Christmas is a magical time in Wells. With festive lighting throughout the High Street, charming shop window displays, seasonal markets and plenty of events taking place across the city, there’s lots to enjoy this Christmas.
Whether you’re visiting for the Christmas markets, exploring the city’s independent shops and cafés, enjoying a festive event or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Wells is a wonderful place to celebrate the festive season.
Wells Christmas Markets
Our popular Christmas Markets return to Wells on Saturday 12 December (9am-3pm) and Sunday 13 December 2026 (10am-3pm).
Enjoy the wonderful smells, tastes and sounds of Christmas, as the historic streets of Wells will be filled with over 200 artisan stalls, selling a wide range of gifts, food and drink, festive treats and more!

Live Music and Entertainment
There will be lots going on throughout our Christmas in Wells weekend, so make sure to check back for more details on everything that's happening.
Wells City Band will be performing Christmas carols and festive music in the Town Hall on Saturday, 12 December, from 11am to 11.45am and 12.30pm to 1.30pm.

You can also travel to Wells Christmas Market by public transport. Wells Bus Station is approximately a five-minute walk from the Market Place, making it a convenient alternative to driving.
Regular bus services connect Wells with Bath and Bristol, including the 174 and 376 services, with routes also serving Glastonbury, Street, Shepton Mallet and beyond.
For visitors travelling by train, the nearest stations include Bath Spa and Bristol Temple Meads. If you’re travelling from London, Castle Cary Station is also approximately a 30-minute drive from Wells.
