The week started at Abbeyfield House, where the Mayoress and I had lunch with residents.
Abbeyfield is a wonderful community. There is space for 9 residents and currently there are 4 spaces.
It was great to meet Joy Trew, who at 99 is full of life. Joy served in the Women’s Auxiliary Air Force and at the 80th anniversary of VE Day sat next to the King.
The weekend started with an unofficial invitation to Il Postino, the new Italian restaurant that has opened in the Old Post Office in the Market Place. After several years of being vacant, it is great to have the building occupied. Good luck to Bruno and the team.
Saturday was Strode College Graduation at Wells Cathedral. This was a truly humbling celebration. Witnessing the success and reward of students across age groups receiving their degrees and qualifications.
There are exciting plans coming for further education in Somerset over the next few years.
We paid a a short visit to Active Travel, at the Bishops Barn, an event part of Eco Week.
