    The Mayor's Update 7th July

    The Mayors Update 7th July

This week ended with two wonderful celebrations.

Wells Cathedral School end of year Speech Day. It was great to meet the speaker, Suzi Digby (Lady Eatwell) OBE; a choral conductor and music educator. Sue sang on the pyramid stage with the Rolling Stones and taught Lilly Allen to sing.

The week ended with a visit to the Romulus and Remus Festa Italiana, where the Mayoress and I cut the ribbon to open the festival. What began as a fundraiser to help preserve the Romulus and Remus statue at Green Ore has grown into a much loved annual event. Tony D'Ovidio presented an emotional Michael Phelps with a cheque for £5000 for Dorset & Somerset Air Ambulance.

There was so much joy and fun. Lots of music, food and dancing, a truly great afternoon.
